After School Program
Brooklyn After School Program Info
Our program is designed for working parents and will ensure that all children accurately complete his/her homework and have an opportunity to participate in a wide array of extracurricular activities.
We pick up from most local public and private schools and can assist you with transportation if your child’s school is outside of our area. All children arrive at our facility promptly after their school dismisses. Our program begins with a light snack and afterwards children immediately begin his/her homework. Children work in groups divided by grade that are assisted by one or two counselors.
Our staff takes the time to go over the material and will ensure that all children come home with their homework completed accurately and are able to demonstrate an understanding of the subject. We offer pick up at 6:00pm or 7:00pm.
After School Program Fees
Children who attend one of the many schools we serve, are picked up by either school bus or company van and are brought to our facility at Brooklyn College. Transportation from these designated schools is included in the tuition. A light snack , homework help, and a vast array of activities such as karate, dance, music, arts and crafts, second language, physical education, drama, computers and more is also included in the monthly tuition.
Registration Fee : A $280 one time per child per year registration fee must be paid at the time of registration. This Fee is Non Refundable. This is to hold your child’s spot in our program.
Monthly Fee :
4 Days per week until 6:00pm – $540.00
5 days per week until 6:00pm – $565.00
4 days per week until 7:00pm – $570.00
5 days per week until 7:00pm – $595.00
Vacation Program Fee : $60 per child per day
All tuition is paid on a monthly basis on the 1st of each month by either automatic checking account withdrawal or automatic credit card withdrawal. All transactions are processed at the beginning of the day of the 1st of each month. If cash is your preferred method of payment, you may submit your payment before the closing of the 1st day of the month and we will not process your credit card or checking account.
After School Homework/Test Prep
Homework assistance is the focus of our program.
All children are grouped by his/her grade and work with one or two counselors until all homework is completed.
Counselors are trained in all subjects and current curriculums across all of the grades that we serve.
Teachers assign homework so that your child can better understand the work given in the classroom; therefore we make sure that every child understands his or her homework before the end of the day.
Our staff is equipped with all materials and tools to complete every assignment given from kindergarten through 8th grade.
Grades 3-8 will receive three months of intensive test preparation for both state ELA and Mathematics examinations.
NYS licensed teachers give these workshops once per week per subject.
Daily Routine
All of our school buses and vans leave our facility at 2:00pm with our staff members as chaperones.
All children are picked up at their schools dismissal times and brought back to our building.
At this time a light snack is served and the groups have a chance to socialize.
Counselors promptly begin homework after snack is completed and work with your child until all his/her assignments are complete.
Activities begin around 4:30pm and are only open for children whose homework has been completed and checked.
Children that have not yet finished their homework will have the opportunity to join the activities at a later time.
For children that take a long time to finish their work, there is no rush, they can work comfortably until they are picked up.
After School Activities
Dance
Professional dance teachers and choreographers teach students dance steps based on modern and contemporary music.
Physical Education
Our physical education program is designed to give children a well-rounded and fun experience while challenging them physically. Taught by NYC DOE physical education teachers.
ELA/Math Practice
These workshops, which are led by NYC teachers, are geared towards practicing for the state exams.
Martial Arts
Students learn the fundamentals of self defense in a safe and non-competitive environment. Taught by black belt level instructors.
Arts and crafts, baking, movies, computers and more!!
Hours
During the school year the after school program follows the NYC Public School calendar.
We cover all but a few school days and all of the citywide half days.
We also offer many vacation day programs during non-school days as well.
If your child does not attend a NYC Public School then please refer to our calendar for more information.
Parents may choose to sign up for either 6:00pm or 7:00pm pick up times.
Our school year office hours are Monday-Friday from 10:00am-7:00pm.
Vacation
School is out for many holidays and vacations.
Our program offers coverage for most of these days off.
On days that we offer a vacation program students may be dropped off as early as 8:00am and picked up as late as 6:00pm.
Children will participate in a full day of activities and will be served breakfast, lunch and snack.
Parents can purchase days as a packaged or pay for them as needed.
Transportation
We currently have three routes that are served by full size yellow school bus and our company van.
All vehicles have a driver and at lease one chaperone at all times.
The chaperones are our counselors and are responsible for going into each school, taking attendance and returning to the bus with all children accounted for.
Each route picks up more than one school and then it is a short ride back to our facility.
Staff
Our staff is made up of dedicated people that are all qualified to work with children.
Staff members undergo days of training every year and must meet all the prerequisites before the program begins.
Staff members are fingerprinted by the NYC OCFS, cleared for any criminal history and medically cleared before work begins.
All staff members are over the age of 18 and have at least 2 years experience working with school age children.
Our supervisors are all licensed NYC Public School teachers with years of experience.
All of our supervisors and many counselors are trained and certified in Red Cross CPR and First Aid
Meals
We serve a daily snack upon arrival of all children.
Our snack consists of two healthy components and the menu varies daily.
Students are encouraged to eat with their friends and socialize during snack time.
Snack is an important time for children to unwind after the school day.
On all vacation days breakfast and lunch are served as well.
Any food allergies should be discussed with the director during registration.
Our Schools
We pick up schools from the surround neighborhoods via yellow school bus and company van.
We currently have three routes and pick up the following schools:
Public Schools:
193, 181, 315, 269, 235, 152, 197, 251, Huddie, 135, 399, 244, 6, Roy H. Mann
Charter Schools:
Brooklyn Dreams Charter School, Success Academy Bergen Beach, Central Brooklyn Ascend Charter School, New Hope Charter School
While these schools are on our route we have children that get here by private van transportation from schools in Canarsie, Gravesend and Midwood.
If your child’s school is not on this list please contact us to determine if we are able to add your school.
Please note that availability is based on first come first serve basis.
Schools may be removed from our route and replaced with others if there are no children enrolled representing that school.
